Inspired by the timeless masterpieces of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, especially Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, Hirak Rajar Deshe, and other iconic creations, the restaurant offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience. The interiors are themed around beloved characters such as Goopy, Bagha, Bhooter Raja, Hirak Raja, Halla Raja, and many others, transporting guests into the magical world of Satyajit Ray.
Food is served in traditional kansa (bell metal) plates, bowls, and glasses, preserving the authenticity of Bengali dining. One of the restaurant’s most unique attractions is the famous “Bhooter Raja Thali,” which is served only when guests clap their hands. The signature thalis are named after the iconic characters from the films, including Goopy Thali, Bagha Thali, Hirak Thali, Sunni Raja Thali, and more.
The journey of Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor has never been easy. From 2005 to 2018, the brand faced numerous challenges and hardships. There were days when only a single fish dish or even just a bowl of lentils was sold. Yet, with unwavering determination, passion, and belief in preserving Bengali culture, the journey continued.
A major turning point came in 2019, when the restaurant was relocated to Jadavpur, beside KPC Hospital. From there, the brand began expanding steadily, opening new outlets in Chandannagar, Salt Lake, Siliguri, and several other locations.
Between 2020 and 2026, Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor witnessed remarkable growth. Today, the brand proudly operates around 20 restaurants across India and overseas. It has established its presence in both the United States and the United Kingdom, with another UK outlet set to open soon.
